+aldrick barber Well said. Too many of the novus ordo Masses are based on emotion and not depth. People look to 'feel good' instead of connecting to what is really happening in the Mass.

Marvin Schulgen There's a missal for that. participation is prayer and following along with the mass. it is not going up to the podium to read the readings (which is supposed to be done by the deacon or priest, not laity). the only exception is singing, and only Gregorian chant, polyphony and traditional hymns at that. the Tridentine mass did everything to bring me back to Catholicism. I got tired of these 'touchy-feely' masses which only engaged the faithful through, well, feelings. nothing of substance. there was an extreme lack of transcendence. you can't hear yourself think in the more modern mass. I like the Tridentine mass because of the reflective silence.

I grew up in the 'traditional' Church, with all the classical music - the Latin Masses, the symphonic masterpieces from Palestrina,, Bach, Griesbacher, etc. Very beautiful performances, but no one knew what the Mass was about. The assembly was 'attending' the performance while saying their rosaries, their novenas, and many other private prayers instead of participating in community worship. Bells were rung at the 'important' parts of the Mass to bring their attention back to the altar. That's what Vatican II was all about - to present our principal worship in the vernacular so that the worshipers could understand it and become involved participants in their worship, rather than just a disconnected audience. The Mass means nothing to us and does nothing for our faith if we can't understand it and fully participate in it. I'm sorry, but the Tridentine Mass, probably because of my lack of fluency in the Latin language, does nothing to engage my faith. Download the academy game cbbc free.
